Sports Illustrated in its current form was launched by Henry Luce in 1954 to replace 2 previous magazines of the same name that had been published monthly. Sports Illustrated is published twice a month with a focus on a variety of sports including professional football, baseball, hockey, and basketball as well as college sports, golf, boxing, auto racing, soccer, tennis, and horse racing.
